broken spring

How did this happen?

An average garage door weighs over 200lbs or more, and lifting that door with no counter balance will easily require more than one or two people, this is where springs come in. Known as torsion springs or extension springs, located above or on both sides of the garage, that are considered the heart of the garage. This coil takes the weight off the door by holding tension when closed, and will release tension when opening the door allowing you or a operator (Motor) to lift the door with ease and feel almost weightless. Springs are rated in cycles (Up/Down=1 Cycle) over time the metals will begin to wear out and  eventually snap, thus needing replacement. There are various spring sizes and lengths for different doors, our technicians will ensure the right size is chosen for your door!
